Short version: running tournaments and leagues is free and always will be. Director Plus — the live standings link players open on their phones — is $2.99 a month or $24.99 a year, renews until you cancel, and can be cancelled at any time from your account page. Please only publish people's names if you are entitled to.
Mahjong Director ("we", "us") is American mahjong tournament and league software at mahjongdirector.netlify.app. By using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
The whole tournament and league app is free, with no account required: roster, check-in, MJMP and variety seating, three-handed tables, the round timer, simple and detailed NMJL scoring, standings and tiebreaks, league sessions, the wall board, every printable, and CSV and JSON export.
It also works with no internet connection. That is deliberate, and section 8 says what happens to it if we disappear.
Director Plus is a subscription. It provides the live standings link and QR code that players open on their own phones, which updates by itself as you enter scores.

The subscription belongs to you, the director — not to a club or to one event. One subscription covers every event you run.
If we change our prices, existing subscribers keep the price they signed up at for as long as their subscription remains active and uninterrupted. New prices apply only to new subscriptions. If we ever needed to change the price of an existing subscription, we would email you at least 30 days beforehand and you could cancel before it took effect.
If Director Plus has not worked as described, email us and we will refund you. We would rather refund someone than argue with them. Where local law gives you a statutory right to cancel or to a refund, that right applies in addition to this and is not affected by anything here.
If a payment fails, your live links keep working until the end of the period you have paid for while the payment is retried — we are not going to switch off the standings in the middle of your tournament over an expired card. If it is not resolved, live pages stop updating. Pages already published stay visible, and start updating again when the payment succeeds.
You sign in with a six-digit code emailed to you, or the link beside it; there is no password. Keep access to your email secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. You must be 18 or over to hold an account.
You can delete your account at any time. That removes your account and every live page you published, and cannot be undone. Cancel your subscription first, so you are not left paying for an account that no longer exists.
Creating a live standings link is always your choice — nothing is uploaded unless you press the button. When you do, you are making a public page about the people at your event. You are responsible for having the right to do that.
By creating a live link you confirm that:
We may remove a published page, or a named individual from one, without notice, if we receive a credible request from someone affected or if we believe the content breaks these terms or the law.
You keep ownership of everything you enter. By creating a live link you give us permission to store that event and display it on the page you asked us to create — nothing more. We do not sell it, use it to train anything, or show it anywhere you did not ask for. Delete the page and that permission ends.
Please do not use Mahjong Director to publish content that is unlawful, abusive or deliberately false; to store files that are not mahjong events; to attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service; or to resell it as your own. We may suspend or close an account that does. If we close a paid account for a reason other than a breach of these terms, we will refund the unused part of the period.
Mahjong Director follows the Mah Jongg Master Points standardised tournament rules for seating, rotation and scoring. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Mah Jongg Master Points, the National Mah Jongg League, or any other organisation, and nothing it produces is an official result.
The app records what the table agreed. It does not adjudicate. Scoring disputes are the director's job, and standings are only ever as correct as what was typed in.
We work to keep the service running but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or discontinue parts of it. If we discontinued Director Plus, we would give at least 30 days' notice, a way to export your data, and a pro-rata refund of the unused period.
Mahjong Director is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
If these terms change, the updated version is posted here with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects a paid subscription, we will email you first.
