Backups and moving to another device

Where is my event saved?

On the device you are using, in the browser's (or the app's) own storage. Nothing is uploaded unless you create a live standings link or a cloud backup. That is why the app works with no internet — and why it is worth keeping a backup.

How do I back up or export an event?

1. Open the event and press Save a backup in the toolbar above the player list.
2. Keep the file it downloads (email it to yourself, or put it in cloud storage).
3. On any device, press Open a backup (or Open a saved backup on the setup screen) and choose that file. Everything comes back: players, seating, scores and settings.

For a spreadsheet of the results, use Export results CSV under the standings (and Export season CSV in a league).

Is there an automatic backup?

With Director Plus, yes: under the live standings card press Back up now, and leave Keep it backed up as I go ticked. On a new device, sign in on the setup screen and restore it in one tap. Without Director Plus, use Save a backup.

I clicked the wrong thing — can I go back?

Yes. Undo in the toolbar steps back one change at a time, including ending a league session or starting over.

Director Plus

What does it add?

A live standings link and QR code for players' phones, a club ladder across your events, and cloud backup. Everything else in the app needs no account and no subscription. Details and prices are in the terms.

How do I subscribe?

Scroll to the Live standings on players' phones card at the bottom of the app, enter your email, type the six-digit code we send you, and choose a plan. In the iPhone and iPad app the purchase goes through Apple.

How do I cancel?

• Subscribed on the website: open your account page, press Manage billing, then cancel in the billing portal.
• Subscribed in the iPhone or iPad app: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Mahjong Director → Cancel. Only Apple can stop an App Store subscription.

Cancelling stops future charges. Your live links keep working until the end of the period you have already paid for, and your cloud backups stay downloadable.

How do I delete my account?

Signed in, use Delete account under the live standings card in the app, or on your account page. Cancel your subscription first so you are not billed for an account that no longer exists. The privacy note lists exactly what is deleted.

Running the event

How do I enter a negative score on a phone?

Press the ± button beside the score box. With a number already in the box it switches the sign; on an empty box it starts a minus, then type the digits.
